8 Months

Crawling, pulling himself up to his feet, and crawling. That sums it up. Hunter is also getting a tooth for sure, we can see and feel it. He is a solid little guy, I think about 20 pounds or so. We are excited to have him around for Christmas…he likes the tree… well I think he wants to destroy it, but that’s besides the point. He experienced snow for the first time when we went up into the woods to get our Christmas tree. And he sports a Mohawk quite well! We feel so blessed. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

7 Months!

Wow 7 Months already! We are still so excited to have this little guy around. He is almost crawling now…he just needs to figure out how to make his arms go once he gets up into the position. He started eating “solid” food. He likes: pears, bananas, avocados, squash, pumpkin, oatmeal, peas, sweet potato, apples, and bacon…well I’m sure he will someday :)
I am not sure how tall he is…but I would say 29” or so and just about 20 pounds. As you can see from the pictures he takes after his daddy in a few things:
1 – He is ready to go huntin’.
2 - We both like to play air hockey, (only I am pretty sure it is against the rules to sit on the table!)
3 – We both get just as messy when we eat.

And the picture with the earmuffs…well he is just practicing wearing his safety equipment, so when we go shooting his ears will be protected! We have to get his thumb out of his mouth long enough for him to aim…it may be a while…

6 Months

Well, it has been 6 months already! With each day that goes by we feel more, and more blessed to have this “little” 19 pound chunko in our lives. 19 pounds puts him at the 90th or so percentile for weight, and he is still near 100% for height. Here are a few new things he is doing (some you can see in the video):

-Sitting up on his own

-Getting up on his hands and knees at the same time. (Crawling is sooo close)

-Getting used to a spoon. (Just milk for now, solid food will come, but he still sleeps through the night (11 hours), and did I mention he is 19 pounds!!! He is a big boy for his age, I would say the milk is doing a fine job, no need to rush it!!)

-He likes to play the djembe (drum)

-No teeth yet…but maybe getting close (we thought that 2 months ago though)

-He loves the jumper thing and jumps very well!

-Survived his first cold.

-We think he might be a lefty

-He fits in some clothes that are 12-18 months size.

-The eye color battle is over…brown won, hands down.

I am sure there is more, but that is what I can think off at this moment. I will try to update the blog again in a month…stay tuned. And yes he is still the most adorable baby ever!!!

4 Months Old!!!

Wow, it has been a while since I last updated…a lot has happened. Hunter is growing and growing. He weighs 16.5 pounds and is 26.5 inches long. That’s a big difference from just four months ago when he was 7 lbs 3 oz and 21 inches.
He is wearing 6 month clothing, and approaching the next stage rapidly. Here are some others things to mentions, in list form:
*He smiles a lot.
*We can make him laugh.
*If we lay him down on his back, he immediately rolls over.
*He can move in circles, while making a big effort to crawl.
*He loves to grab our fingers (strong grip) and pull himself up from his back all the way to his feet.
*He gets a kick out if standing
*We think he is getting a tooth. (A little grumpy at times, and he started waking back up at night.) :(
*He loves to watch the flag in the front yard. (He will stare at it waving in the breeze for 15 minutes or so)
*He is “talking” a lot more and has just recently discovered he can scream really loud!
*He loves to grab his own feet.
*We still are not sure what color his eyes are going to be…although it looks like brown is winning.
*He likes to be in the “super saucer” (red and yellow thing)
*He spit-up on dads face for the first time. (Literally, less than a hour after I said to Becky “gee, I have not been spit up on my face yet, or peed on.” Well I’m sure I’ll be getting peed on any time now)
*He likes to chew on his fists, yes I said fists…he will try to get both those suckers in at the same time…probably has something to do with the whole tooth thing.
*He still drools about 4 pounds worth of slobber a day!
*And he is sill the most adorable baby in the world. Sorry to you parents out there, but it is what it is. :)

That all we can think of for now…

Movin' & Groovin'

As you can see Hunter is starting to showcase some of his strength. I don't know if this young of a baby is supposed to be in a jumping thing...but he loved it!
He is now 15lbs and moved into the next stage of clothes! I am also amazed at his ability to drool, it's like a fountain!

Splish - Splash

Hunter got to experience his first time in the pool. We were not sure how he would react, but he loved it. The little floaty thing we got him worked really well! Not one cry out of him, all 15-20 minutes!!! Fun times!

2 Months Old

2 months old already! A few updates for those who care...
His "official” 2-month weight at the doctor was 12 lbs 14oz. and length was 23.25"
We think they measured a little short, just because he looks really long...he is already grown out of some of his 3-month clothes! According to the Doc, his head and length are in the 50th percentile, and his weight is in the 90th percentile. (in other words, Chunky monkey status!)
He is growing and getting lots happier as the colic seems to be slowly going away!
These are his two-month pictures…he will always be #1 on daddy’s team!!!

First Drum Lesson

8 Weeks (and 2 days)

So once again I missed it by two days, but Hunter did get to attend his first wedding! Our awesome friends Jake and Rachel got married and Hunter got all dressed up for the occasion; with his collared shirt on, he was pickin’ up all the ladies, but he obviously did not like the dress clothes cause he decided to pee on them during the reception! Hey I can't blame him, I hate dressing up too, only I can't get away with peeing on my clothes for an excuse to get out of them! Hunter now weighs well over 12 pounds!

7 weeks (and 2 days)

All of our 7 week pictures we took are kinda blurry, so we cheated. Hunter now weighs 11 lbs 12 oz. He is getting bigger by the second!!!

First trip away from home

We traveled to Sunriver for Memorial Day weekend. Some good friends of ours are getting married and we all (wedding party) stayed in a house down there for the weekend. I took Friday off just so we could “mosey” our way down there. I do have to say out of the truckloads of advice that comes your way when you have kids, the best advice I have gotten so far came from a magazine. It was an article that talked about going on vacation with kids, and it said something like – “the only plans you should make, is to make no plans.” Everything will take more time with a little one. I was prepared for that, so when it took us 6 hours to drive a 3-hour drive I was ok with it. It was also a test for us to see if we could remember everything we “needed.” We did really well, no fatal mistakes like forgetting diapers, the baby or clothes. The only thing that would have been nice was a night light, to make the midnight, 2 am, 4 am, 6 am changes and feeding a little easier. I have to say though, we had our car packed to the hilt, and we used everything we brought. I see an SUV in our future when kid # 2 and beyond comes along. We did a poor job at getting pictures, this one is at Cultus Lake, it was about an hour away from where we were staying. Some people rented canoes and kayaks. I thought Hunter might still be a little young for that, so we just stayed on the shore.

I had to "pre date" this post for our records...I have been lazy and have not updated in a few weeks. however the picture is from 6 weeks old. Hunter weighed 10.5 lbs.

Roll Over Baby!!!

Ok so Hunter rolled over for the first time when he was 4 and a half weeks old. Becky saw it, and I did not. I thought she may have dreamed it or hallucinated it due to sleep deprivation. However I saw him do it at 5 weeks old. I though holy cow, don't babies do this kind of stuff at 4-5 months not 4-5 WEEKS. I think people believed us, but thought we might have set him up or assisted him. Now the proof is here. He has now rolled over 5 times!!!

5 Weeks

Wow he is already five weeks old! A couple of things to mention...
He is almost 10lbs...(give him a day or two more...he'll be there)
He rolled over from his tummy to his back...Quite the over achiever, huh?
The close up is the 5 week picture and the other one is the first time Uncle Brian got to hold Hunter.

Some more stuff

There are a few "firsts" that I should report:
- First bottle...went very well!
- First time "Uncle" Joe held him
- First time sharing dads pillow.

Baby Dedication

Hunter had is first trip up on “stage” this last Sunday. I told Pastor Brent that we would like to dedicate Hunter to Christ. We know that Hunter is Gods child and we are the lucky ones he chose to raise him here on earth. Thanks to Brent and Masami for the prayers and the words of wisdom, encouragement and hope.
When Brent asked me why we wanted to do this and handed me the mic I was not surprised, he told me in advance I should say something if I wanted to. I had it all figured out what I was going to say…and then it hit; emotions. I did not get 3 or 4 words into my little dialogue when unknown to me I started to tear up a bit…I thought I was over that at the hospital, but I guess not. Hunter is still such an unbelievable miracle to me, that I can’t help it sometimes to shed a few tears, then you put me in front of a couple hundred people, and its all over! I know I will get a hard time from my friends who don’t have kids yet, and the ones who do know exactly what I am talking about. Every time you look into your newborns eyes, a feeling goes through you that you have never felt before. A joy that God has given to us that is like nothing else. So for those of you who missed it, or could not understand a single thing I tried to say here it goes again, minus the “womanly” emotion…now I am making fun of myself…anyway-

It seems like people are always searching for something; for truth. Does God exist? People argue over this, and even die over this. As a Christian, I have always known there is a God, a creator, a savior…call him what you want, I know he is there, he has changed my heart, no one can take that away. But on April 9th it was made even more clear to me that not only does God exist, but his love for us is unfathomable. Of course the ultimate love was given to us on the cross, but in addition to that, he chooses to bless us with so much more. Two things will always stand out in my mind that day. The first is the obvious, I got to “catch” or deliver Hunter and place him on Becky’s stomach (remember he was 3 years in the making). Watching the miracle of childbirth, especially when it is your own, is something that nothing else can compare with on this earth. (Psalm 139: 13-16) The second was when it was confirmed that Becky’s water had indeed broke, I sent out a text message saying that she was in labor to everyone I could think of at the time. Within seconds I got about 15 or so messages back that simply read “praying” or “praying for you”. As I got them I thought it was nice to see that, but did not think much about it. After the delivery I was awestruck. The delivery was “better than textbook” as one of the nurses said (read Becky’s post on he birth for more detail). Anyway a short time after he was born I sat back and thought, it was so obvious that Christ was with us today, and the fact that I knew for sure that those who sent me a text back were all praying for us, and not to mention the ones who didn’t, but were still praying for us, was a testament to God being faithful to answer those prayers. It hit me like a ton of bricks and now is so obvious to me. It wasn’t just the nurses, midwife and us in that room that day, but the creator of life himself was in that room guiding every single step. To God be the glory! – You can tell me God is a fairy tail all you want or that it all happened by an evolutionarily, random, blind chance process, but now more than ever I know the truth; everything that happens; God is in control of. - God does exist, you just might just have to sit back and think a bit.
Well I am no preacher, and by this post it is now more obvious, but those are my thoughts, and what I really wanted to say on Sunday.

Hunter Meets Noah

Well, these are really cool photos…for more reasons than one. These two little guys are almost exactly the same age…if you go from conception, but Noah (right) was born about 2 months premature on march 6th, I believe he was due may 1st. Hunter was due on April 28th. After 6 weeks at the hospital Noah got to come home! Our good friends Brian and Teresa Merrell came over with their little guy, to meet our little guy. In this picture Noah is about 6lbs and hunter is probably over his birth weight, which was 7lbs 3oz. You can read the story of Noah at: http://www.merrellsville.blogspot.com/

We are all excited to bring these little guys up together. God is indeed Good!
