3 Weeks

Kaitlyn is up to 7lbs even this week, and she has also grown longer. She is now 20” long. We think they might have mis-measured at the hospital. She is still very mild tempered and over all pretty happy, She eats like crazy. Her total weight may not be off the charts, but her weight gain might be! She actually rolled over at 3 weeks and one day old. The funny thing was I had her down on her blanket for some “tummy time” and I had just said to Becky “Hunter rolled over at like 4.5 weeks, but he was a lot more rambunctious all around, she might be a while.” And literally 10 seconds later it was like Kaitlyn thought “ain’t no boy showing me up!” and then she rolled over. I think it even caught her by surprise judging from the look on her face, but her timing was perfect!

And the Baby Picture comparison at the bottom - Who does she look like???

2 Weeks

2 weeks have passed and we are doing fantastic as a family. Kaitlyn sleeps pretty good, of course Becky does 99% of the work so I am a lucky man to have such a dedicated wife, who also happens to be a devoted mother! Kaitlyn is growing and much to our surprise she is now bigger than her birth weight at 6lbs 5oz. She eats a lot, but we were not expecting over half a pound (9oz) gain in one week, at this point Hunter had put on 7oz, so Kaitlyn is on her way to catch up! (To put that into perspective, that would be like me gaining about 25 pounds or eating 87500 extra calories in one week) Babies are an incredible, miraculous work of God! We are so blessed!

Kaitlyn 1 Week

Kaitlyn is doing very well. She is still a happy baby that lets us sleep at night only getting up to eat every3-4 hours. Occasionally she will fuss a little, but nothing like big brother did. She is about 5lbs 12oz now, so it won’t belong until she is bigger than her birth weight. Below are two pictures taken exactly 3 years apart. Both of our babies a week old! They do look alike, don’t you think?

First Night

The first night went rather well. Kaitlyn is even allowed us to get a few hours of sleep. She has a mild temperament and is very addicted to eating already. She picked up the whole breastfeeding thing right away and every 3 hours she will nurse for 30-40 minutes! We are going home today around 2-4 if everything checks out good, which we believe it will. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, and I got to give a big thanks to my Co-Worker, Tracy for bringing me my computer, but also bringing us Burgerville milkshakes!!! We have had a few other visitors as well Grammy, Grandpa, Grandma, Brent and Kim. Hunter loves his baby sister very much and gives her kisses. We feel so blessed to have our little family!

Kaitlyn Fell into the world...

Well following in the foot steps of her big brother. Kaitlyn decided all on her own she was ready 3 weeks early. She is not a giant weighing in at a petite 5lbs 15oz and 17.5" long, but hey, her mom aint all that big either! Everyone is healthy. Becky had another "textbook" delivery with absolutely no medications at all!!! (the Bradly method works!) She was almost born on he hospital floor, long story short: water broke and the next contraction Kaitlyn fell out with the midwife and I barley catching her. Becky did not even have to push...I am sure you will get more on that later. God is so good...

15.5 Months

Wow a few more months have gone by already!
As you can see from the picture, this little baby ain’t so baby like anymore…one year does a lot!

He runs around and will dance for us now. He pats is belly and head when you ask him too. He got another tooth in the back this time. He’s says “uh-oh” “da-da” and “itty” when he sees the cats. He still has not repeated the words “ma-ma” after his fisrt time saying it, despite never ending effort from the ma ma. You ask him, “Hunter can you say ma ma?” and he replies “da-da” I win! He-he.

So much more I could write, but time does not allow. That all for now…

His 15.5 months stats are:
Weight 26.5 pounds
Height 33.5 inches (Now Hunter is passed daddy on height for his age)
Cuteness rating – off the charts!!!

ONE Year!!!!!!

Ok, I admit I did not keep to my word and get this updated every month (Tax season around here is a bit hectic and our internet runs only slightly faster than a paralyzed slug caught in a nasty headwind)…Hunter is older than nine months now, in fact he is 1 year old. Wow time flies when your having fun! He can do so much more now then he was last time I posted. He eats anything we put on his tray, he is even trying to use a spoon now (although that usually ends up a mess) he can hold his own drink cup now, he took his first steps on Easter. He still does not say much other than Da Da and Ma Ma one time. He is “jibber jabbering” a lot more though. He still only has two teeth, but we are sure more are on the way soon, at least he sure acts like it. He is growing too. On his birthday he was 24 pounds and 32 inches tall. That’s pretty amazing to think about…in one year he more that tripled his weight and grew 11 inches. I know all babies grow similar to that, but just think if we tripled our weight in one year…or maybe ya don’t wanna think about that! Anyway the video (with audio) is kind of long (about 9 minutes) the first few pictures are the first 11 months in order so you can see the change, and the rest were taken at his birthday party.

9 Months

Wow another year gone already. December was a crazy month for us, but we got through it. Hunter has continued to grow and learn new things. He has learned to wave (randomly, but sometimes bye, bye) he has figured out how to shake his head “no” and does it a lot, and then laughs about it. No words yet, but he does say “Wa-Wa” I hope that turns into “Da-Da”, but I don’t think Becky sees it the same way* He is getting really good at standing with minimal help for balance…sometimes he forgets he does not know how to balance without holding on to something, and then he is quickly reminded of gravity…boys will be boys…he is pretty darn tough though. He is eating up to 18 jars of baby food a day! Yes I said 18! He is 30" tall and weighs just under 21 pounds. I am glad we got a vita-mix for Christmas, that thing is a baby food makin’ machine! He can now pick up and eat “puffs” (aka cheerios) on his own and he is pretty proud of himself for that. Christmas was fun…Becky had salmonella for 2 weeks over Christmas, so that put a wrench in a lot of our plans, but Hunter stayed healthy. He got somewhere around 4 billion presents from the grands and auntie…ridiculous. His favorite at the moment seems to be the crock-pot box the he found on the floor. He gets his hands up on it and uses it as a walker to go across the wood floor. Figures huh? A cardboard box; That’s always how it goes. (See video) His first tooth is doing well, actually he has already put scratches into the top rail on his crib. Makes us glad we don’t have crib made in China laced with VOC’s, lead, and whatever other chemical was cheapest on the black market that week of production! :) We are so excited to be getting near a year old…I think Hunter needs a sibling to play with...we will see!

*I wrote this a week ago and since then Hunter has said DA DA!!!

8 Months

Crawling, pulling himself up to his feet, and crawling. That sums it up. Hunter is also getting a tooth for sure, we can see and feel it. He is a solid little guy, I think about 20 pounds or so. We are excited to have him around for Christmas…he likes the tree… well I think he wants to destroy it, but that’s besides the point. He experienced snow for the first time when we went up into the woods to get our Christmas tree. And he sports a Mohawk quite well! We feel so blessed. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

7 Months!

Wow 7 Months already! We are still so excited to have this little guy around. He is almost crawling now…he just needs to figure out how to make his arms go once he gets up into the position. He started eating “solid” food. He likes: pears, bananas, avocados, squash, pumpkin, oatmeal, peas, sweet potato, apples, and bacon…well I’m sure he will someday :)
I am not sure how tall he is…but I would say 29” or so and just about 20 pounds. As you can see from the pictures he takes after his daddy in a few things:
1 – He is ready to go huntin’.
2 - We both like to play air hockey, (only I am pretty sure it is against the rules to sit on the table!)
3 – We both get just as messy when we eat.

And the picture with the earmuffs…well he is just practicing wearing his safety equipment, so when we go shooting his ears will be protected! We have to get his thumb out of his mouth long enough for him to aim…it may be a while…
