8.5 Months

Oh how time flies when you are having fun. Kaitlyn is now 8.5 months old and she has learned to do a lot. Her personality is really laid back and therefore her motivation is lacking. She has not figured out how to crawl yet, but she will roll to get where she wants to go. She can sit up on her own, and she loves anything that she can jump in. She is a little girl, might be 14 pounds now. We actually took her in to see the Doc because she just had not gained any considerable weight in 4 months. She did get pneumonia at 5 months and has battled off a few colds since then, which did not help her in the weight category. When she is sick she loses what little appetite she has. Sickness has plagued us since Hunter has been in school. The Doc was concerned with her weight aswell and he told us to chart what she eats and add whatever we can to get the calorie intake up. This has all been recent and in the last 4 days she has eaten about double to three times as much as she was before. My analysis of this is, she is so complacent and calm that she would only let us know when she was absolutely famished…not just hungry. Now that we feed her on a schedule she is eating a lot more and we add olive oil to increase the calories. She is getting about 300-500 calories in olive oil alone now! I think this little scare is over and I think she will be gaining weight just fine now. She eats, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, apples, bananas, avocado, egg yolks, and mommy’s milk, which is still her favorite. When she eats she will take a bit and then go for her two middle fingers on her left hand. Just like Hunter did with his left thumb. She still is working on teeth, she has none thus far.
She loves to jabber and say da,da,da,da,da,da…of course she is talking about me!
She liked Christmas time, but did not really open any of her presents…that’s what big brother Hunter is for, which happens to be an expert in the field. Kaitlyn on the other hand just preferred to chew on the ribbon.
She is our “bumper girl” when we lay her in her crib the first thing she does is go for her crib bumper. She loves to snuggle with it. We tried to give her a blanket instead, but she was on to us and still went right for her bumper. She basically uses it as a body pillow!
Well that about all for now, who knows when I’ll get a chance to do this again.
