4 Months

Wow how time flies! Kaitlyn is 4 months old now and she weighs a petite 13lbs and is 24” tall. She has really started to “come alive” she smiles all the time, especially when she first wakes up in the morning. She has discovered her vocal cords work and exercises them often, even at 2 IN THE MORNING! She absolutely loves her little bouncer chair and standing up. She has been rolling from her back to her stomach and had it down pretty good, but just last night she completely rolled over all in one motion, she looked surprised. She has been giving us a break at night by going 6-8 hours between feedings. (I say “us” but mean mostly Becky :) Hunter absolutely loves her to pieces and if left unattended might really hug her to pieces! He is still working on the whole “gentle” thing, but he is getting a lot better.

2 months

Kaitlyn cannot say she never gets out of the house. In two months she has been to 3 beaches, golden gate bridge and the trees of mystery. We took a weeklong vacation to the southern Oregon coast and the redwoods.  She camped in a tent for 3 nights and all went pretty well. She is really chunking up and smiling a lot more. She has become less fussy at night and usually wakes up twice night  and then goes right back down. On our 14 hour drive home from California she was really fussy for the first 50 miles…or 2 hours!!! (and we were not on 25mph roads!) But after that she did well.
She weighs 10lbs 9ozs.

On a side note Hunter and I came up with a new way to shell peanut...

6 Weeks

6 weeks and still growing fast! She now tips the scales at 9lbs 3ozs. Her length is 20.25in. We had a really good couple of nights were she slept 5 hours, ate and then went right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours…we hope this pattern continues!!! Hunter is very “in love” with his baby sister, he always wants to be near her, giving her kisses and he even called her his “sweetheart”… I know,  just wait a few years…this will change!

5 Weeks

We took our first trip away from home with Kaitlyn this last week. We went to Lincoln City and stayed in a Yurt at Devils Lake State park. It was a lot of fun and Kaitlyn did just fine…she slept through most of the trip. Hunter had a ton of fun at the beach and we learned that camping with an infant and a three year old is a bit more challenging. We managed to have a great trip without any major problems…well Hunter could have gotten arrested for public indecency when he pulled his pants down right on the beach and peed…but hey what are you gonna do?
Kaitlyn is now 8lbs 12oz. She eats a lot and sleeps a lot. She keeps getting a stuffy nose and Becky has to dig the “treasures” out, but the difference it makes for Kaitlyn is remarkable…her little nostrils have a hard time passing the boogies.

All in all things are good and I feel extremely blessed to have the wife and kids that I do.

3 Weeks

Kaitlyn is up to 7lbs even this week, and she has also grown longer. She is now 20” long. We think they might have mis-measured at the hospital. She is still very mild tempered and over all pretty happy, She eats like crazy. Her total weight may not be off the charts, but her weight gain might be! She actually rolled over at 3 weeks and one day old. The funny thing was I had her down on her blanket for some “tummy time” and I had just said to Becky “Hunter rolled over at like 4.5 weeks, but he was a lot more rambunctious all around, she might be a while.” And literally 10 seconds later it was like Kaitlyn thought “ain’t no boy showing me up!” and then she rolled over. I think it even caught her by surprise judging from the look on her face, but her timing was perfect!

And the Baby Picture comparison at the bottom - Who does she look like???

2 Weeks

2 weeks have passed and we are doing fantastic as a family. Kaitlyn sleeps pretty good, of course Becky does 99% of the work so I am a lucky man to have such a dedicated wife, who also happens to be a devoted mother! Kaitlyn is growing and much to our surprise she is now bigger than her birth weight at 6lbs 5oz. She eats a lot, but we were not expecting over half a pound (9oz) gain in one week, at this point Hunter had put on 7oz, so Kaitlyn is on her way to catch up! (To put that into perspective, that would be like me gaining about 25 pounds or eating 87500 extra calories in one week) Babies are an incredible, miraculous work of God! We are so blessed!

Kaitlyn 1 Week

Kaitlyn is doing very well. She is still a happy baby that lets us sleep at night only getting up to eat every3-4 hours. Occasionally she will fuss a little, but nothing like big brother did. She is about 5lbs 12oz now, so it won’t belong until she is bigger than her birth weight. Below are two pictures taken exactly 3 years apart. Both of our babies a week old! They do look alike, don’t you think?

First Night

The first night went rather well. Kaitlyn is even allowed us to get a few hours of sleep. She has a mild temperament and is very addicted to eating already. She picked up the whole breastfeeding thing right away and every 3 hours she will nurse for 30-40 minutes! We are going home today around 2-4 if everything checks out good, which we believe it will. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, and I got to give a big thanks to my Co-Worker, Tracy for bringing me my computer, but also bringing us Burgerville milkshakes!!! We have had a few other visitors as well Grammy, Grandpa, Grandma, Brent and Kim. Hunter loves his baby sister very much and gives her kisses. We feel so blessed to have our little family!

Kaitlyn Fell into the world...

Well following in the foot steps of her big brother. Kaitlyn decided all on her own she was ready 3 weeks early. She is not a giant weighing in at a petite 5lbs 15oz and 17.5" long, but hey, her mom aint all that big either! Everyone is healthy. Becky had another "textbook" delivery with absolutely no medications at all!!! (the Bradly method works!) She was almost born on he hospital floor, long story short: water broke and the next contraction Kaitlyn fell out with the midwife and I barley catching her. Becky did not even have to push...I am sure you will get more on that later. God is so good...
